A fruit producing shrub with purplish blue berries used for fresh eating, pies and jams. Great for ornamental use with glossy green foliage changing to a vivid orange to red fall colour. Good cold hardiness.
Prefers a moist, well drained, slightly acidic soil. Add moistened peat moss to the planting area and backfill soil when planting.
Fertilize in spring with an all purpose fruit tree fertilizer prior to new growth or topdress with compost. Prune to remove broken or damaged limbs.
Saskatoon berries will begin to bear fruit at 2-4 years after planting.
